Description

Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture was founded in 2013 with the aim of creating an innovative platform for artistic and cultural research that could generate social impact and contribute to societal change. The institute operates as a research and creation platform for contemporary and new media arts, science, education, and cultural dissemination. Its mission is to foster innovative and creative thinking through artistic research and innovation, shaping our understanding of the world and enhancing the quality of life with new perspectives toward a more sustainable and responsible transformation. The organization supports residency and artistic research programs in the fields of new media art, science, and visual art. It provides a multidisciplinary environment that encourages dialogue between the art world, public institutions, and businesses. Espronceda extends its outreach to the local and international community by organizing various events and initiatives, including art exhibitions, workshops, conferences, and open calls that address significant issues in contemporary society. The artist in residence program (AIR) was launched in 2013. Within the framework of the program, Espronceda invites internationally recognized, but also artists with high potential. We offer a creative and cultural experience for stays between 2 and 12 weeks.

Outcome

The residency culminates in a exhibition/show in which the works created during the program are in the focus. In addition, this show enables the artist to summarize his/her artistic practice in general, activities and experiences gained at Espronceda via a public artist talk. The artists’ exhibition will remain in the space to be visited for at least 2 weeks after the show.

Studio Information

The space features: painting studios (private and shared), sculpture studio, a gallery space, visual art studio, sound studio, multimedia studio, a yoga, dance & mediation space.
