The scholarship program will cover all travel costs to and from the travel to the residency place, as well as accommodation in a private room in a student residency.
In addition, each scholarship holder will receive a monthly support of 1,000 euros together with travel costs for the journey from and back to home. A special allowance will be made available for material costs.

Application guidelines:

The scholarship program is directed towards young international designers in the areas of jewellery, fashion, accessories, industrial and communication design as well as other design disciplines. Applicants must have completed studies at a university of applied sciences or university, must either not be older than 35 years or must have completed their studies not longer than two years ago. To apply, a proposal for a project that can be implemented during the scholarship must be submitted. Interdisciplinary project proposals are welcome. Language skills in German or English are required.

Description

The EMMA is a creative center in Pforzheim and has opened its doors for freelancers, entrepreneurs, young companies and agencies after its completion in summer 2014.

The EMMA Creative Center is the central platform for creative people in Pforzheim and the region. The creative center has an area of 3,000 m² and offers workshops and co-working workplaces, ateliers, offices and exhibitions spaces. On the ground floor there is an event area. The EMMA also offers a modern infrastructure. A highlight is the roof terrace, which can also be used for events.

Every year from April to June the city of Pforzheim togehter with Pforzheim University and Design Center Baden-Württemberg invites international young designers as part of the scholarship program “Designers in Residence” to Pforzheim. “Designers in Residence” addresses to young designers working in the fields of jewellery, fashion, accessory, industrial and communication design as well as other design disciplines. Interdisciplinary project proposals are welcome.

Fully equipped workplaces in the workshops will be available for the scholarship holders use, as well as accommodation for the period of the scholarship. If required, the workshops of Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences can also be used. In addition, each scholarship holder receives a monthly support and a reimbursement of the travel expenses for arrival and departure. The results of the work fellowship will then be presented in an exhibition at the EMMA – Creative Center Pforzheim.

Accommodation Information

The scholarship program will provide free accommodation, in a private room in a student residency, 200 meters away from EMMA - Creative Centre Pforzheim.

Studio Information

The scholarship includes use of fully equipped workshop and coworking workplaces in the EMMA Creative Center in Pforzheim. There is a fully equipped goldsmith workshop, a fashion design workshop as well as an industrial design workshop focused on wood working. The workshops and studios of the Design Faculty of the Pforzheim University, with specialized equipment and material, are also available upon request and depending on their availability.

Location

The Creative Center is housed on the premises of a former swimming pool designed in the art nouveau style next to the river Enz in Pforzheim. The creative center has an area of 3,000 m2 and offers workshops and co-working workplaces, ateliers, offices and exhibition spaces.
