The Mirador de Akasha is a self-managed Art Residence, founded in 2016 by the artists Daniela S. Checa and María Salmerón (Artemysa Salmerón). It is place to welcome artists from all over the world who love to travel and share their art with local artists. They offer a huge workshop with ceramic kiln even apart from other materials needed for the different disciplines that take place in the house (included in the AKASHA ARTISTIC CREATION SCHOLARSHIP) apart from numerous gardens and lookouts to inspire. They have different artists who collaborate with this Cultural Association as tutors and supervisors of the different workshops that are offered in the Scholarship, each one with its technique and methodology.

As Cultural Association & Artists Residence "El Mirador de Akasha" aims to generate a transformation in the strategies of exchange, training and artistic creation, for professionals, art lovers and students of all media and artistic expressions. This program encourages the exchange of experiences and the importance of culture in the development of the community, so weekly, in its gardens and viewpoints, they take dozens of artists as a meeting place and artistic exchange of all disciplines and nationalities, called Jam artistic. It is a place where critical thinking is promoted and offers this space for the free creation in development of a project / author's work in the old part of the city of Granada, surrounded by a magical scenery of viewpoints and gardens, being an organic laboratory who experiences the possibility of creating a rural lifestyle, harmonious and inspiring while connected with the extensive cultural agenda offered by the city. The Mirador de Akasha continuously has numerous events and workshops aimed at transmitting values ​​linked to an awareness of the Ecological, Creativity, respect and Bioenergetics, Symbolic and Therapeutic Thought.

Accommodation Information

The house is a palace located in the emblematic Albaicin neighborhood of Granada, the birthplace of Flamenco and Andalusian art. It consists of eight individual bedrooms, all with beautiful views, four bathrooms, family kitchen and laundry area, cozy living room with fireplace and library, large shared work workshop and numerous terraces, gazebos and gardens that are sources of inspiration, from the which can be contemplated the panoramic of the whole city, the Mountains of Sierra Nevada and the Historical Monument World Heritage "La Alhambra".

During the stay, the artists will have all the common areas of the house, private room and a large workshop for free creation seeking synergy among the inhabitants. The house can host up to 4 people, through 1 shared bedroom and 2 private attics with amazing views. Participants will be able to use the residence as their place to work, rest or meet with people.

Technical Information

In the workshop there is a ceramic furnace and all kinds of material that can be rented.

Location

 The location is 5 minutes from downtown, between Calle Elvira and Mirador de San Cristóbal.
