The MC6 residency provides a scholarship for 8 artists per year (2 at a time) for a 1-week/10 days program (accommodation + meals). The MC6 team also provides curatorial support, communication with the local community, assistance in organizing local trips/expeditions, and presentation of works in Lviv's art spaces. Additionally, keep an eye on open calls, as participation in themed MC6 residencies is free thanks to the support of patrons and grants.

Artists are responsible for covering their travel expenses to and from the residency, as well as materials
for their work. The program includes accommodation, meals, and access to workspaces. Cost of the program (housing + meals, support):

  • Cost for 1 week: At Sadyba or a tent — €250; At Artspace — €300
  • Cost for 2 weeks: At Sadyba or a tent — €400; At Artspace — €500
  • Cost for 1 month: At Sadyba or a tent — €800; At Artspace — €1000

Usage of the "Residency" and "Trepeta" workspaces should be coordinated with other guests through the
project managers of MC6. Separate rental of the workshops for work or rehearsals is available for 120
€/day. The workshop space also offers comfortable accommodation for 3–4 people.
For artists needing full or partial scholarships, options are available for work exchange or assistance in
finding funding.

Description

The Creative Residency MC6 is a meaning-building space and community located in the Ukrainian Carpathians, where, in a natural environment of values, trust, and dialogue, meaningful transformations occur at both personal and societal levels. The activities of the MC6 community encompass cultural research, education, arts, architecture, and social initiatives. By uniting cultural figures, artists, civic activists, members of the local community, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and defenders around shared values, the organisers create a network of intersections, warm interactions, and horizontal trust to foster dialogue and the development of their country.

The Creative residency of MC6 is about a broad perspective: rethinking traditions, local context, nature as a basis, authenticity and innovation, interdisciplinary and holistic approaches. It is also about finding bridges of intersection between different national communities of Ukraine, knowing one's own identity, exploring creative processes and methods that cause changes at the level of the individual and society. A separate topic for research is the history of the Ukrainian Avantgarde and Boykivshchyna of that time (1910-1940) - rethinking and creating something new.
The residency creates a safe space and conditions for collaborations, experiments and cultural dialogue. The
program includes research, creative and educational components: lectures, master classes, excursions,
curatorial support and presentation of artists' works.

Outcome

Interaction and dialogue with the local community and the MC6 artistic community, participation in discussions, presentation of work during the residency, joint publication, further co-creation, involvement in collaborative artistic and socially significant projects. The creation of an artwork for the MC6 culturalresearch archive is discussed based on the type, duration, and theme of the residency.

Accommodation Information

For residents, they offer three spaces:

  • Sadyba: 2 rooms for single settlement. Shared spaces include a living room with a fireplace and a
    kitchen. The bathrooms are shared and located in the corridor.
  • Art Space: 1 rooms for double settlement or 1 room for single settlement, with a bathroom in each
    room. Shared spaces include a mini-kitchen and a coworking area equipped with a projector and screen.
  • Camping: from May to September, they provide 2 tents for 2 residents. The tents have heated beds and basic furniture. The bathroom and shower are located within the camping area.
Studio Information
  • On the territory of MC6 there are two separate rooms for collaborative work: Residence and Trepeta (spaces with an area of about 90 m²), suitable for both visual arts and performative or movement practices. The time of use must be agreed with other guests of the Creative Residence MC6 through the project managers. It is possible to fully rent a separate space for a project for an additional fee.
  • The coworking Art space with an area of 20 m² can be adapted to various creative requests.
  • There is also a workshop with tools for working with wood.
  • A small Music Studio of 12 m2 (will be available from March 2025). Summer covered terraces - for visual and performative arts.


They accept artists from various fields: visual arts, music, architecture, design, literature, performative art
practices. Their focus and themes include: artistic freedom and experimentation, rethinking Ukrainian avant-garde and the history of Boykivshchyna, reinterpreting traditions, authenticity and innovation, connection with
nature, local context, interdisciplinarity, and interaction with the MC6 community and the local population
(e.g., organizing lectures, workshops, or creative sessions).

Technical Information

The space is equipped with a weaving loom, an etching press, a woodworking workshop, musical instruments, a recording studio, and music equipment for performances. There is also a hall for movement and dance (use must be specified separately) and a mini-library in the art area. During warm seasons, covered terraces and open natural spaces can serve as workshops.

Location

The space is located in the mountains, on a hill at the outskirts of the village of Slavsko. The residency is surrounded by forests and streams. The territory of the residency covers approximately 3 hectares of land with various functional spaces (housing, workshops, restaurant). The area has its own established traditions and culture and is part of the ethnographic region of the Ukrainian Carpathians — Boykivshchyna. The space is situated at the foot of Mount Trostyan, a popular ski resort. During times of war, the Carpathians are one of the safest regions.
