Description

Chalk Hill Artist Residency is a unique opportunity for artists across mediums to work and stay at the beautiful Warnecke Ranch and Vineyard. The program is located in Sonoma County, an hour and a half north of San Francisco. Talented artists from a diverse range of abilities and geographical locations are able to find the space and time needed to pursue creative work. Chalk Hill Artist Residency offers the use of the artist house, studio space, and access to the ranch property. The property's oak woodlands, hiking trails, vineyards, and private access to the Russian River are sources of inspiration for residents.

The residence does not have internet access. Internet is available at our office a short walk away. Residents must supply their own art materials. Transportation to and from the Ranch is the responsibility of the artist.

Chalk Hill Residency supports artists living with disabilities and mental health challenges. Please inquire for special living needs, for example, attending the residency with a care provider.

Outcome

An ideal applicant is motivated and able to accomplish their proposed project. Open Studios and other group events will be postponed until social distancing protocols are updated.

Studio Information

Studio spaces are in a repurposed, rustic barn near the artist house. Tables, chairs, and easels are available.

Accommodation Information

The Residency’s 1925 rustic farmhouse has three bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, and living space.

Technical Information

Wireless internet is in designated spaces at the Ranch headquarters, not in the Residency house or studio.

Location

Sonoma County weather is beautiful year-round, but winter can be cold and rainy. June-September can be hot. They recommend artists coming during summer to bring their swimsuits & river shoes to cool off at the private river spot located on the property.
