Available Residency Periods for 2027: January – May and October – December 2027.
A) Entire House Rental:
Stay alone, bring family, or invite your artist group (up to 3 people).
Cost: 11.000 DKK per month (approx. 1.450 EUR).
B) Shared House:
Stay with another selected artist (you’ll each have a private bedroom and shared living space).
Note: Guests are not allowed for this option.
Cost: 6000 DKK per month per artist (approx. 800 EUR).

Outline what you plan to work on during the residency, and explain why this specific residency is a good match for your project and development. (Max. 500 words)

4. Portfolio
Provide a link to a digital portfolio (e.g., website, Instagram, etc.). If you do not have an online presence, please attach 5–10 representative works.
5. Practical Information
Include your full name, address, email and phone.

Description

Located on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea, close to Sweden, the residency is situated next to the art space Beast in Østermarie, a small village with a vibrant art community. The residency offers artists the chance to immerse themselves in the island's unique nature and lifestyle, providing an ideal setting to focus on existing projects or explore new ones. There are no specific thematic requirements. While artists may give an open studio talk or workshop, this is entirely optional.

Artists can stay alone, with family or a group, or share the space with another selected artist. The residency is near local amenities like a grocery store and public transport and is a short bike ride from beautiful forests and the Baltic Sea.

They encourage applications from artists in all fields, with a special focus on photography, and welcome applicants from around the world.

New perspectives, time to focus on a project, explore island life and networks with local artists.

Accommodation Information
  • A fully furnished brick house with an open living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom and an additional toilet.
  • Utilities (heat, Wi-Fi, electricity), bedding, and access to a washing machine.
  • Bike and large garden area.
  • Optional nature tours and community introductions.
  • Introduction to the local art community and institutions.
  • You will share the house with another international artist. One grant is reserved for a family, who will get the whole house to themselves.
Studio Information

Workspace/desk space at the shared studio in Beast. Beast consists of three different rooms in a former slaughterhouse in a 100 square meter space.
 

Technical Information

Access to a digital workspace (screen, calibration tool, flatbed scanner, and Canon Pro-1000 A2 Inkjet printer).

Location

The residency house is based next door to the artspace Beast in Østermarie, which is a small laid-back village with a vibrant art community.
