Successful applicants are charged a residency fee. Successful applicants will be responsible for all other costs including travel cost, transport, food, insurance and art materials. The organizer can assist you to find and prepare material beforehand, just let them know in advance.

Description

The organisation is situated in the south of Swedish Lapland in a village called Västra Örträsk. Örträsk is situated by the river Öreälv and the lake Örträsksjön. The residency with a studio and three-room apartment is in a former free church built in 1958. The lake and river are surrounded by forest.

The residence welcomes and offers artists the opportunity to develop their project within the following fields: Visual arts, literary arts, research, sculpture, design, environmental art and music. The location of the residence is rural so for artists looking for an inspiring, quiet place where you can test new ideas, develop your work and above all, find the tranquility you need to explore and develop your work, this place is the one for you.

Outcome

The outcome of the residency period is up to the artist, it can be workshops, artist talks, exhibitions or performances. There are many options and the organisers are willing to discuss and come up with the best solution for each individual artist.

Accommodation Information

Three bedrooms with four beds, kitchen, one bathroom, washing machine. One room is bigger with a desk and work possibility in the room.

Studio Information

A large studio that is the former congregation hall and space in the basement. There is also a patio or porch where you can work.

Technical Information

There are easels in different sizes in the large assembly hall. There is no wifi.
