Atelier de la Rose
Atelier de la Rose is a retreat/guest house in a medieval village in France, providing a supportive environment in which you can pursue your artistic project, whether you are an artist or a writer. The central courtyard leads to a fully equipped stone-built studio with its own rose garden. There is a large private terrace with panoramic views over the garden and the valley beyond. Next to the studio, an independent guest wing provides on-site accommodation.
The studio is a conversion of a centuries-old stone house with a terracotta-tiled floor and oak-beamed ceiling. The floor area is 7 x 5 metres; the height is 2.5 metres. Daylight illumination is by three sets of French windows. Supplementary lighting is by fluorescent tubes and halogen spotlights.
The French windows open out in three directions, thus offering a considerable extension of available working space in fine weather.
Next to the studio, an independent guest wing provides on-site accommodation. Artists have their own room. It is possible to come with partners.
Easels, trestles, drawing boards, folding chairs, sketching stools and slide projection facilities are provided. A stereo music centre and heating are included in the price.
Atelier de la Rose is located in the Lot département. Its neighbours are the Dordogne, Lot-et-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne, the Aveyron, Cantal and Corrèze. It is the most northerly part of the Midi-Pyrénées and is but a few kilometres from Aquitaine, the region that runs to the Atlantic coast.
