Atelier Austmarka
This is an atelier for artists in residence in the village of Austmarka, Finnskogen, in the South East part of Norway, near the border of Sweden. The studio is surrounded by beautiful nature: mystic forests, lakes and abundant wildlife including moose, deer, lynx and foxes. Atelier Austmarka wants to welcome creative people worldwide from different disciplines, and offers the opportunity for artistic production and contemplation, with few distractions and easy access to nature. The aim of the Atelier is to host artists for a retreat and concentrated work period in a rural area. The residents are expected to work independently.
Atelier Austmarka would need to have the rights to use one or more photos of your work in progress/your working process from your residency to post on social media and/or our website as part of building up their Artist-in-residence place.
One large spacious studio flooded with natural light to be shared with other artists in residence. In addition: One separate small studio for writers or digital work.
The house is fully furnished and can host 6 artists at the same time in 6 small private bedrooms. There are two toilets and one bathroom, washing machine, a kitchen and a living room.
Wifi
The residency is a ten year old building in the centre of Austmarka village, in the middle of Finnskogen, a large forest which was named thus due to the immigration of Finnish people in the seventeenth century. This small village has a population of 250 people.
