Artudio international artists residency (AIAR)
Artudio, Center for Visual Arts is a contemporary art collective and platform for artists and art enthusiasts. It is a space intended for self-reflection /realization and brings forth transformative engagement through contemporary art practices, initiatives, exhibitions, residencies and visual arts education. Artudio instigates and uncovers the creative potential of its beneficiaries through the support of an extensive network of professional contemporary artists and art communities.
Artudio offers an International Artist Residency (AIA Residency), providing a unique and empowering space for creative exploration and development in an artistic environment. The program is open to two international artists at a time. Their mission is to cultivate a sustainable global art ecosystem that encourages self-reflection, critical thinking, and creative growth, allowing artists to maximize their potential.
As an Artist-in-Residence, you will have access to a vibrant art community and resources to help further your practice. The program is designed to be both supportive and inspirational, allowing you to develop lifelong friendships, professional relationships, and future collaborations. They strive to provide a stimulating, liberal environment with reasonable fees for you to explore Nepal’s contemporary art scene, and its cultural and geographical diversity, and make meaningful connections.
Open Studio or exhibition (solo or duo). They would love to receive one of your works created during the residency to save as an archive for Artudio’s collection. (This is completely optional).
A shared 200 SQ/FT studio workspace with one individual desk each to work on the projects with Access to good wireless internet, electricity and water facilities.
If you feel that you need additional space to work on your project, we will also provide you with shared access to our larger studio space in the same building.
They are located in Chhauni hospital road, Kathmandu, Nepal, just a short distance away from the Swayambhunath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The location offers the perfect balance of nature and city life, with easy access to the Kathmandu ring road within 7 minutes of walking. Furthermore, three notable museums nearby, the ‘Military Museum’, ‘National Museum of Nepal’, and ‘Natural History Museum of Nepal’, offer a great opportunity to explore the city’s cultural sites. Hiking destinations like Ichangu Narayan and Jamacho are also close by, providing a view of the Kathmandu valley.
Additionally, Kathmandu Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, is only 3.1 km away from the residency, and other notable places in the area include Dharahara, Maru, Thamel, and Asan.
