option 2: A residency fee of 850 euros per month – excluding accomodation. ( one month fees will be applied on residencies for less than a month)

The fees do not include:
– International and local travel

- insurance
- living costs
- production materials needed if not available at the Studio.

THE FEES INCLUDE: Accommodation in Kadikoy (for option 1 only), in the neighborhood of Rasimpasa, nearly arthereistanbul and the studio space.

Selection:
– Send them an email to check the availability calendar or receive the application form or download it from our resartis page
– Fill in the application form and send it along with the requested documents
– The application should be sent no later than 2 months before the requested starting date of the residency.

Terms and conditions
Please do not send any deposit before your project idea has been officially approved.

Since the physical and managerial capacity has limits, once the organisers select a project they count on your commitment to stay as long as you declare in your application.

Reservations are completed when 30% of the total fees are transferred to arthereistanbul. This deposit payment is non-refundable in case of cancellation.

The rest is due to be paid upon the arrival to the residency.

Description

arthereistanbul, a multicultural space located at the crossing-bridge between Europe and Asia
Istanbul is often considered as one of the Art Cities of the Future: a city rich a vibrant and vital art scene, connected both to Europe and Asia, while also relating to the Middle-East. The city is often seen as a bridge between the East and the West, a cosmopolitan space where hundreds of cultures coexist.

One of Istanbul art scene's main characteristics may also be its strong intertwining with the country’s political life and its geographic situation. This contributed to shape singular and strong artistic expressions tied to local issues and individual specificities.

In this context, arthereistanbul aims to:
– foster research, creativity and in arts and culture by opening an space to artists from all over the world to develop their ideas and projects.
– favour exchange between artists at risk / exiled artists together with artists from Turkey and International artists, curators, researchers, and arts professionals.
– increase the interaction between local and international artists and/or initiatives.
– encourage and support dialogue, diversity, tolerance and understanding against fear and suspicion.

In arthereistanbul, the residents will benefit from a multicultural environment and will have opportunities to broaden their vision and understanding of the region particularly in terms of culture and the arts while working in a cosmopolitan, international atmosphere.

In arthereistanbul, the resident will find full understanding, the needed support and constructive guidance to develop his/her own artwork and progress in his/her knowledge out of his/her experience from the residency.

THE CUSTOM MADE RESIDENCY PROGRAM

arthereistanbul is launching its Custom-Made Residency Program and will welcome the first residents in 2017.

These residencies of one to three months (or more) can be for research, reflection, project's writing or development, without the pressure of production.

The Custom-Made Residency Program is opened to artists, researchers, curators, writers, from all backgrounds and all kind of experience in various disciplines of arts and culture. The project and its adequacy with arthereistanbul’s vision and territory will determine the participation in our residency program.

The purpose of this Custom-Made Residency Program is to allow the artist / researcher / curator / art professional to work on the first steps of his/her project. This can consist of writing a first draft, leading a research, looking for archives, gathering elements for an art project, or work on a small production.

A custom made package is put together for each artist or group of artists. There can be an individual accompaniment by artehereistanbul team and other external specialists, if required for the artistic work process. arthereistanbul team can also offer her support and advice on administrative matters and help in finding partners

Accommodation Information

Accommodation type: shared apartment (three people max).

Accommodation in Kadiköy, in the neighborhood of Rasimpasa, nearly arthereistanbul and the studio space, which consists of a two rooms of 20 – 30 sqm in a shared flat of 85 to 110 sqm of living space, well-equipped kitchen, and all neccessary services like: hot water – heating – washing machine – TV – shower – toilet – terrace overlooking istanbul sea side, internet access.

Technical Information

Preparation, administrative advisory, networking:

  • Pre-residency online preparation with the arthereistanbul's team to plan the the residency accordingly to the needs and requirements of the project
  • Support, advice, for administrative, financial, partnerships issues for each resident. arthereistanbul aims to fill the gap between the participants and the different actors in the city
  • Series of cultural visits to some local organizations, spaces, art centers of Istanbul in relation to the needs of the project. These activities can be accompanied by informal meetings with local cultural actors
  • Organization of public events or exhibition, at the end of the residency, in line with the project and the need of the resident.
    arthereistanbul helps with visa application by sending the selected applicants an official invitation letter and helping with all other necessary documents required.
