Art quarter budapest is an independent cultural institution set in the former Haggenmacher Brewery in Hungary. As an art center aqb contains ateliers, studios, a gallery and community spaces. Around fifty Hungarian visual artists and creative enterprises found their constant base in the reconstructed industrial building complex. In their main non-profit gallery space, aqb Project Space they organize contemporary art exhibitions and art education programs collaborating with curators and other international institutions. Aqb also hosts other types of cultural programs like concerts, performances, readings, film screenings, workshops and gastronomical events.
Since 2013 aqb runs an international artist-in-residency program, offers accommodation, a private studio and a pop-up solo show. Aqb became a cultural melting pot of an international creative community with a wide variety of artists from the music, applied arts, dance and visual art scenes.
They offer varied services to integrate our residents into the local art scene and assist in establishing professional connections that best support their work and career. aqb personnel provide assistance through the program, catering to practical needs related to life in Budapest, to obtaining necessary materials, equipment and more.
The residency program offers broad possibilities for artists, including cooperation among various disciplines, backgrounds and interests to serve as sources of inspiration.

The residence program offers all entering participants a fully furnished room within a communal apartment located on the aqb premises, as well as a studio space catering to the project’s requirements.
Studios are assigned based on the project requirements. All studios are heated, have natural light, ventilation, wi-fi and are accessible 24/7.
Aqb is located about 10 km from Budapest's city centre, near the Danube River. The public transport system is comfortable and efficient, with several bus lines (including a night bus service) and a train line running close to aqb.
