AIR 3331
Based in a repurposed school, the former classrooms house 4 floors of exhibition space, independent galleries, workshop facilities, creative offices and more - with organic rooftop gardening, a cafe, gymnasium, select shop and ample community space. This is 3331 Arts Chiyoda, an accessible artist-run center at the heart of Tokyo's creative scene. With various programs and a diverse influx of visitors to connect with, 3331 serves as a unique base where creative practitioners from all over the world can come together. With a shared studio/exhibition space inside 3331 Arts Chiyoda, or the nearby live-in studio (newly established in 2015), resident creators can realize artwork production and research, workshops or events, and open studios or exhibitions. In support the center coordinators facilitate creators' activities, from production advice or language assistance, to sharing knowledge of the local art scene. They currently can accommodate up to 5 individual/group projects per month.
Opportunities for open studios or exhibition, workshops or other events (artist talk, performance, etc.)
AIR 3331 offers both a private studio plan (Studio & Gallery IN 3331) and a shared studio plan (Iwamotocho Studio). The private studio is located within the 3331 Arts Chiyoda center, while the shared studio sits just below the residence accommodations and is used by up to 5 artists.
