Several times a year, a "complimentary" JURIED RESIDENCY will be offered through a program called CaFÉ (www.callforentry.org) There might be a focus on a particular demographic ("Photography" or "Writers" or "Mixed Media" for example). Interested participants would submit their application through CaFÉ with an application fee. After all applications have been collected and the deadline has passed, a panel will be gathered to review the submissions. One (or maybe more) recipient(s) will be chosen to win the residency, receiving live/work space to focus on a particular project or possibly explore a new medium. In most cases, the recipient will pay their own transportation costs to and from Ajijic. A stipend may or may not be provided. Recipient will receive luxury accommodations, daily breakfast, access to programming and hospitality services provided by 360 XQMX. Additional details will vary depending on the nature of the residency being offered. Applications for a JURIED RESIDENCY will ONLY be accepted through CaFÉ.

  • INDEPENDENT RESIDENCIES: Creatives from all over the world choose to visit 360 XQMX and Lake Chapala for many reasons. They pay to attend the residency, looking for an intentional artist community located in a very special place with many creative and comfort benefits. Using the reservations system, they find a suite that meets their needs and based on availability, they independently make the reservation. Once the reservation is made, the host reaches out to them to discuss their goals for the residency and will later work with them to curate their time in the residency. The artists can be as connected or independent as they wish. The host acts as their liaison to the local and regional artist and creative community offering networking and opportunities for exposure and possibly, sales of their work.
  • HOSTED RESIDENCIES: Every year, 360XQMX offers several HOSTED RESIDENCIES that are medium-specific and occupy a specific time period. Possibilities might include: CREATIVE WRITING, or OIL PAINTING, or PHOTOGRAPHY, or FIBER for example. The entire headquARTers is blocked for that particular residency, with special rates for single, dual or triple occupancy in our suites. These residencies are instructional, offering programming that includes a series of multi-day workshops or daily classes, led by qualified and respected instructors, offering the participants a varied experience within that particular medium. Application guidelines:

There are no guidelines to apply for an INDEPENDENT or HOSTED RESIDENCY WITH 360 XQMX ... as long as you are an artist or work within the broad scope of the "arts". For a JURIED residency the applicants would submit a bio, resume, artist statement and portfolio samples ... all to CaFÉ.

360 XQMX ~ Residency for Creatives

Description

360 XQMX is focused on programming and providing you with the most beneficial residency experience you can imagine. They work with the artist to curate their residency and fulfill their needs and vision. 360 XQMX offers public salons, where the residents discuss their work/process/inspirations/etc, sharing the spotlight with the other residents and addressing local art enthusiasts. Once a month, they host Open Studios, inviting other local and regional artists/artisans to join the residents.

Residents are welcome for anywhere from two weeks to four months. The residency is located at an elevation of 1,538 meters / 5,046 feet above sea level. It sometimes takes a day or so to get acclimated. You will naturally connect with your fellow residents over coffee, as well as be introduced to local and regional artists. This is a thriving arts community and there are activities every day - live music, theater performances, gallery openings and special events. Having at least two weeks gives you time to settle in, get a sense of the community, make some connections AND focus on the work you came here to complete.

Accommodation Information

360 XQMX has a new headquARTers to accommodate the many international residents that spend their time with us in Ajijic. The headquARTers is comprised of (8) suites that have either a KING bed or (2) TWIN beds, a full kitchen and a private bath. (2) additional suites have a KING bed, a matrimonial bed, a full kitchen and (2) private baths. Each suite has a sofa, smart tv, WIFI, a private bath, air conditioning and a full kitchen. To relax or burn off some energy, there is a stone-lined pool, a jacuzzi and gym equipment. Located just blocks from the plaza and the malecon, you will find the 360 XQMX headquARTers to be convenient to daily services, restaurants, galleries, shops and public transportation.

Studio Information

Residents are encouraged to use the entry terrace to their room (with a seating area) to write, paint, compose, read or just enjoy. However, throughout the property are many other places to be creative, including a breakfast dining area, poolside, our cozy salon gallery, a group studio terrace and a scenic mirador with incredible views of the mountains and Lake Chapala.
