Wiels offers a working studio and its equipment (furniture, electricity, water, Internet etc), tutorials with confirmed artists, on site curatorial and technical staff, 1 public presentation during the residency, 1 study trip abroad and regular excursions.
The artist or his/her sponsoring organization is expected to pay the living and travel costs.
Candidates may work with any medium. Students are not eligible. Applicants must be at least 21 yo and not be enrolled in any degree program.
Wiels is an international laboratory for the creation and the diffusion of contemporary art. Focusing on visual arts, but granting a particular attention to the crossings and interactions with other disciplines, the centre wishes to present contemporary art in all its diversity and to offer a permanent dialogue with the developments and the most recent debates of the art world.
Exhibition & performance: WIELS makes every effort to exhibit or perform the projects created by the residents during their stay.
Accommodation is not provided, but it is possible to sleep in some of the studios.
Nine working studios are accessible 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Studios are furnished and have Internet access.
