The ART ECO Artist-in-Residence program is a program set up by the Thai Child Development Foundation (TCDF) and Eco-Logic, Resort for Charity. The program aims for local and international artists to come and live and work with the Foundation, its guests, volunteers and the local community. By hosting artists who work with recycled materials, photography or paint/drawing TCDF hopes to encourage people to conserve natural resources and promote new ways of thinking about art and the environment. Artists can be involve in an educational program on recycling in the weekends with the foundation, if they like.
ART ECO hopes that the Artist in Residence program will provide artists with the opportunity to learn and experience the possibilities of rural life in an Asian country (Thailand). The goal of the Art Eco Artist in Residence program is to develop a creative environment that creates awareness of culture and nature via art.
Artist will stay in a private room of the guesthouse of the Thai Child Development Foundation. It is possible to come with your partner/family, as the guestroom has a double and a single bed. Food (3 group meals per day) is provided for by the host and included in the residency fee (for partner/family, meals need to be paid for extra).
Artists can use the buildings on the premises of the accomodation for their work.
The foundation is located in southern Thailand, 50 km from the city of Ranong on the Andaman Sea coast at a 40 rai facility that includes a small guesthouse (3 bungalows, 4 guestrooms and 2 dormitories), a restaurant, a Special School for children with Special Needs, an adobe silence center for meditation and yoga, a recycle collection point, an organic ecological garden, numerous fruit trees and an amazing view over the valley and rainforest.
