ALDES is an association of artists and cultural operators that since 1993, under the artistic direction of Roberto Castello, produces and promotes works of choreographic experimentation with special attention towards the contaminations with visual arts, new technologies and theatre, creating performances, videos, installations and events.
Since 2008 ALDES manages the project SPAM! hosting, in the province of Lucca, creative residencies of artists and companies, an interdisciplinary programming of shows, workshop and educational activities, in a process that intertwines production, programming and the production of theoretical contents.
The residency offers different forms of tutoring based on the artists' needs. It is also possible to open the work in progress to different audience groups. Sharing of the research process is not a mandatory condition for the artists in residency.

Porcari is a small town not far from Lucca, in Northern Tuscany, near the Tyrrhenian Sea. Among other reasons, Lucca is famous for its Renaissance-era city walls that have remained intact while so many other Tuscan towns saw theirs destroyed in past centuries. As the walls lost their military importance, the top of the walls became a pedestrian promenade, today one of Lucca's main attractions, a park that surrounds the city and blocks out modern life. Lucca is located on a plain at the foot of the Apuan Alps and is less than half an hour away from the Tuscan coast.
Lucca is also the birthplace of composers Giacomo Puccini (La Bohème and Madama Butterfly), Francesco Geminiani, Gioseffo Guami, and Luigi Boccherini.
