Seoul Dance Center | Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture
The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture and the Seoul Dance Center (SDC) reopened in April of 2016 and has been operated as a space to view and support Korean dance ecosystem by supporting dance creation, running projects such as international exchange programs, dance film project, and monthly webzine as well as continuing venue rental for those who are involved in dance field. Seoul Dance Center is trying to be a space where experiment both relationship between dance, dance artists, and audience and possibilities of art of dance.
The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture and the Seoul Dance Center (SDC) support artists in dance field to arrange creative base and offer opportunities to attempt diverse experiments so that they can extend their capabilities. As a part of this effort, especially, the 2019 residency is open to both national and international to stimulate exchanges and networking among artists.
Who can apply:
- Individual artist or group based on dance field planning research or development of dance work (the nationality is irrelevant).
- Applicants must not have other plans in South Korea which can affect working at SDC based on their residency plans.
- In case of residents overseas, applicants must not have reasons for disqualification to stay in South Korea.
The Number of Selection: Within 15 teams - Maximum 6 teams for each categories. Adjustment is possible according to availability of accommodation and rehearsal spaces
- (Required) Submission of report after residency
- (Up to the artists): Showcase, talk, exhibition etc.
- Studio Black(112.5㎡): small showcase available(w/30 seats)
- Studio White(112.5㎡): dance floor
- Rehearsal Room 1(225.5㎡): wooden floor
- Rehearsal Room 2(112.5㎡): dance floor
- Rehearsal Room 3(112.5㎡): dance floor
- Rehearsal Room 4(58.5㎡): wooden floor
4 Single rooms and 2 Twin rooms.
