Mustarinda is situated on the second highest summit in Kainuu, adjacent to the northeast edge of the Paljakka nature reserve. The surrounding old-growth forests offer a rare opportunity to observe nature’s own form of language, structure, and operation. Paljakka and Mustarinda are also some of Finland's snowiest areas. The applicant may apply for a specific space depending on their needs and working methods. Depending on the timing, families can be accommodated by the larger bedrooms or two separate rooms.
The Mustarinda Association is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that was established in 2009 by a group of Helsinki artists. The association aims at preserving the diversity of nature and culture by bringing together artists, scientists, and people from various public and private organizations for discussions, seminars, exhibitions, residencies, and happenings. Their goal is to create an environment for new ways of thinking and cooperating.
