The center has grown quite rapidly since it was established in 2001 in an abandoned school building in the industrial area of Holon.
Description of residency program:
In 2007, the residency program was initiated at the Israeli Center for Digital Art. The program is open for artists, curators and contemporary art critics and enables residents to stay in Holon and carry out research and production in the context of the society and field of art in Israel. The program is not limited to specific artistic media, but rather is based on the expectation that residents’ work will relate to or be influenced by their time in Israel. During their stay, residents should be available to take part in the programming of the Israeli Center for Digital Art. The center collaborates with other international residency programs, which enables Israeli artists to participate in programs abroad, to make work connections, and altogether create a higher visibility of Israeli art internationally.
The possibility to exhibit work at the center is considered with the resident in each case during the time of the residency period.
