Location

Fondazione is located in and named after (Cerere: Roman corn goddess) an ex pasta factory Pastificio Cerere built in 1905 in Rome. The ancient San Lorenzo’s factory is the most important archaeological find of this area. Pastificio Cerere is an example of industrial building’s conversion. The production of pasta left in 1960 and place was since then occasionally used by artists of San Lorenzo Group. In 2004 Pastificio Cerere Foundation was established with the intent to create a new reference point for the spreading and promotion of contemporary art.

All its premises are now lofts adapted to host sculptors and painters’ ateliers. In summer 1984 Achille Bonito Oliva curated an exhibition that made the building famous. Loft ateliers of Nunzio, Bruno Ceccobelli, Gianni Dessì, Giuseppe Gallo, Piero Pizzi Cannella and Marco Tirelli were open to the audience.
