Culture Vultures is an artist-run initiative set up in 2008, coming from the heart of Sefrou, a market town in Northern Morocco. Sefrou was the chosen location for this venture for being close to modernity (25km out of Fez), steeped in a rich history and still very connected to traditional living. Culture Vultures presents several programmed residencies throughout the year that bring together artists from around the globe to immerse themselves under a common theme. Outside of these residencies they also encourage applications for self-directed residencies from artists who wish to work more independently.
Local, regional and national connections are encouraged. Presentations, workshops and exhibitions are available.
Artists are accommodated in an old Jewish house in the heart of the ancient medina of Sefrou. The house has six bedrooms, four bathrooms, two salons, a well equipped kitchen, a roof terrace, a small garden and working tables and reading corners. A house keeper is available to cook meals if required.
Studios spaces are available if needed in the heart of the artisan quater of Sefrou where carpenters and tailors work and Culture Vultures hosts an office, presentation space and studios.
Internet access, local contacts for printing, process and presentation of artwork.
