Artists in Residence at MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN

MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN will be hosting two residencies (Part one 9th-16th June & Part two 20th-27th September 2024)

MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN invites music theatre collectives and artists for a residency in Vienna, Austria. Dive into a vibrant scene, foster connections, and develop your music theatre projects in a supportive environment

MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN will be hosting two residencies (Part one 9th-16th June & Part two 20th-27th September 2024), as part of the EU-funded residency project What’s Next? exploring “Safe cultural multi-spaces for the multidisciplinary reflection of (post)war and (post)crisis European identity”. Each residency will be two-parted: One week in June and one week in September 2024.

The project concepts you are working on should frame one of the following topics:
- Ecological future (responsibility, human/environment, sustainability, climate crisis, et.al.)
- The decision-making human being (e.g., homo politicus, individualism vs. swarm behavior, all kinds of social, political or philosophical aspects).

The call is open to collectives and artist groups in contemporary music theatre (max. 6 members), who are willing to join both dates (June AND September 2024).

The residency offers:

  • Accommodation and workspace
  • Daily allowance of 30 Euros per artist
  • Networking opportunities with Austrian music theatre creators and international curators in the frame of the ‘Austrian Music Theatre Day’ conference
  • Attendance at cultural events like Vienna International Festival (June) and Musiktheatertage Wien Festival (September)
  • Concluding presentation to Vienna's music theatre community in the frame of a networking event of Musiktheatertage Wien Festival in September 2024
