ZAM Contemporary Open Call

ZAM Contemporary is pleased to announce its new Residency open call for art, culture & humanities professionals

ZAM Contemporary is an interdisciplinary artist-run initiative founded in 2022 by artist Mehregan Meysami. It is located in Stockholm Region, Sweden,10 km away from Downtown Stockholm.
ZAM Contemporary is initiated with the objective of creating a meeting point between the constructs of West and non-West, to come together and think together and collectively expand discourses on epistemological diversity, global justice, solidarity, and decolonial practices, beyond and outside the institutional and conventional realm.

ZAM Contemporary-AiR is an international interdisciplinary residency where creative professionals can develop their projects in a stimulating, distraction-free environment of interdisciplinary dialogue. It is a retreat for artists, providing a breathing space for reflection, in a peaceful and tranquil environment, at the heart of nature, surrounded by lakes and forests.
The program is self-directed and research-based, allowing the artists freedom to fill in their stay as it suits them. The residency program includes follow-ups, and field trips to the natural, and historical heritage of the region. Producing artwork or a final product is a possibility but not at all a requirement.

The residency offers a live/work studio space located in a historic wooden building, built in 1921 and fully restored in 2021. Accommodation is private, equipped with a private kitchen, private bathroom/laundry, with access to free wi-fi and bicycles. The studio has a spectacular view over the Drevviken lake, which is frozen during winter times, offering ice skating rings, and in warm summer time is perfect for bathing.

The next Residency program will take place from March 5 to August 5, 2024. The fee to participate is 1100 € per month.

The residency program is open to international participants and cultural practitioners of all backgrounds, such as –but not limited to–artists curators, writers, poets, theorists, activists, linguists, researchers, with no restriction regarding disciplines.
