TaDA Textile and Design Alliance Artist in Residence Programme

TaDA Textile and Design Alliance Artist in Residence Programme

Each year, TaDA offers a work stay in Switzerland to six to eight national and international personalities

TaDA – Textile and Design Alliance is a cultural promotion programme. Its goal is to promote artistic dialogue with the eastern Swiss textile and design culture and thus strengthen the regional identity. A connection to practice and to the textile companies established in the region is a central component of the programme. Each year, TaDA offers a work stay in Switzerland to six to eight national and international personalities. The residents develop innovative projects in the fields of art, design, architecture, literature, the performing arts or in transdisciplinary contexts. As programme partners, certain textile and design companies in Eastern Switzerland make their know-how and technology available to the artists, thus giving the residents an opportunity to do practical and artistic work and carry out applied research. For their part, the partners benefit from the creative exchange with the art practitioners invited. On the occasion of the annual event „TaDA Spinnerei“, the work results are presented to the public.

They are looking for creative personalities from different disciplines and regions of the world to open up new opportunities of collaboration with the textile industries in Eastern Switzerland. The aim is to harness creativity and innovation, resulting in valuable input and stimulus for both residents and the companies involved. Particularly welcome are cultural practitioners who want to engage with questions related to the future of the textile industry and its sustainability. To take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the companies, basic technical knowledge of textile production is preferred.

The residency covers:

  • Accommodation in Arbon (private room with shared bathroom and kitchen), few minutes walking distance from the workplace and the Bodensee
  • Travel expenses
  • Contribution to the cost of living
  • Workplace in the former textile and engine factory in Arbon (Kreativzentrum ZIK)
  • Technology, knowledge and infrastructure support by experts from the 13 partner companies and from the jury

The deadline for applying is 3rd October 2022. Applicants will be asked to complete and upload the following documentation in connection with the online application form:
