Hotel Mariakapel

Hotel Mariakapel is an artist-run residency and project space in Hoorn, just 40 km north of Amsterdam. In the old center of the town, in a mediaeval orphanage with adjacent inner garden and Maria Chapel, Hotel Mariakapel receives artists from all over the world.

Hotel Mariakapel has grown from the ideal to create a concentrated work- and presentation place, where dialogue and collaboration inform experimental, context-based art projects. It was set up and is still run by a dedicated team of artists, assisted by local and international volunteers.

Trans Artists Guest Studio Meeting 2009

Trans Artists organised an annual meeting for guest studios, organisations and municipalities who are involved with residency programs in the Netherlands and Flanders, to inform about opportunities and developments in the field of residences and to offer a platform to meet and exchange experiences and information.

Program

  • 11.00 h. Welcome and introduction by Trans Artists and Hotel MariaKapel.
    Presentation by Jantine Wijnja (HMK) about the project Elopement - a collaboration between HMK and Art Bakery (Cameroon)
  • 11.15 h. Presentation of the European Pépinières Program in relation to the Trans Artists Platform Air nl, the Dutch participating partners in the Pépinières program and artists in the current Pépinierès program Map Extension
  • 12.00 h. Lunch
  • 13.00 h. Presentation of the upcoming Trans Artists DUS project on the occasion of Ruhr 2010 in Germany including a presentation of partner organization Künstlerhaus Dortmund by Peter Schmieder. This project is a follow-up of the VLANED
  • 14.00 h. Presentation by Maria Tuerlings about the Trans Artists workshop program in collaboration with guest studios and fine art academies in the Netherlands and Flanders
  • 14.30 h. Presentation of the Res Artis network by Irene Saddal and Marijke Jansen
    Report of the Res Artis Regional Meeting which took place November 16 -19 at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Poland
