proyecto PAC
Proyecto PAC aims to support and expand contemporary artistic practices (including performance and curatorial proposals) through an international program of residencies in Gachi Prieto gallery, in the city of Buenos Aires.
Gachi Prieto gallery focuses in Latin American contemporary art; constantly seeking for new meanings and it works with full commitment in the promotion of projects and artists within this complex system.
Currently, the gallery represents 20 young well-established Latin American artists. Its program of 8 exhibitions per year fosters interdisciplinary, conceptual and spatial approaches in a variety of media including sculpture, video, sound, painting, photography and performance. It is well-known for revealing and consolidating the career of its artists, and for supporting them in presenting institutional scale exhibitions, conquering an increasingly notorious position in the international artistic scenario.
International Residencies Program
This program operates as a research and production hub anchored in the specificity of the local context with the ultimate objective of promoting the exchange of knowledge, experiences and professional bonds among diverse cultural agents towards the development of an international network.
The possibility of working for several weeks immersed in the busy activity of a recognized contemporary art gallery, as well as, participating in its educational programs for artists and curators, implies a continuous interaction and the visitors’ full involvement in Buenos Aires contemporary art scene. We only host one resident at a time, which allows us to devise an agenda of parallel activities specially designed according to personal objectives. We provide time, space and guidance to explore and experiment in a stimulating setting, which fosters debate and collaboration among artists, curators, theoreticians, critics, art managers and other cultural agents.
Residencies' modalities
Directed to artists of all disciplines, writers, researches, creators, theorists and curators interested in having an experience of total immersion in the contemporary art system within the urban context of Buenos Aires. The call proposes three residency modalities:
a) Residency for research and / or artistic production: aimed at artists, regardless of age or gender, who wish to develop a project in the city of Buenos Aires.
b) Residency of curatorial research: aimed at curators, researchers, critics and journalists, regardless of age or gender, interested in knowing in depth the contemporary artistic-cultural framework of the city of Buenos Aires and in developing a curatorial project or investigation based on the obtained experience.
c) Residency for cultural management: aimed at cultural managers, regardless of age or gender, who intend to develop tasks of management, coordination and mediation of cultural projects.
The selected residents will work between four and six weeks in the space provided by PAC Project and will get to know – through a program of participation in workshops, seminars, exhibitions and encounters with diverse prominent cultural figures – the cultural framework of Buenos Aires. This experience will be realized not only in their artistic, curatorial and management projects, but also in the presentation – toward the end of the residency – of a workshop, conference, exhibition or any other pertinent format, through which they will share with their colleagues and with the public the results of their stay.
