Art Center Nabi
Art Center Nabi’s mission centers around three main areas; being a ‘critique’ of contemporary technology; nurturing ‘creativity’, thus opening new possibilities of creative expressions; building a 'community' where new ideas are shared and developed into new social movements. Art Center Nabi hopes to be a space, where artistic sensibilities combined with technological possibilities bring out the power of positive change in man as well as in society.
Art Center Nabi is pleased to resume the annual Nabi Artist Residency program dedicated to fostering innovation and creativity at the intersection of art, technology and society. Nabi Artist Residency is a platform that supports artists from diverse cultural backgrounds to explore their ideas and connect with fellow practitioners at the heart of Seoul.
Through Nabi Artist Residency 2023, Art Center Nabi seeks to inhabit realms beyond the limits of technology and of types of knowledge circumscribed in technology through mobilizing socio-cultural exchange. As part of Art Center Nabi’s long-term research project East meets East, this residency aims to provide a fertile ground in which active engagements in defining and shaping ways of seeing, feeling and acting through the lens of ‘East’ take place.
Collaborating with Misk Art Institute this year, Art Center Nabi welcomes the participation of many enthusiastic artists interested in the program.
During the residency program, the participating artists will host an exhibition to present the result of their art projects in Nabi Artist Residency program. Additionally, the artist will have artist talks to introduce their creative experience during the residency program and the result of their art projects.
After the end of the program, the residency will relate domestic/foreign creative laboratories and media art centres to the artists to continue their follow-up projects.
The artists would be carrying out their creative activities at the art space provided in Hanok.
Artists will be staying at one of the Art Center Nabi's residential areas, Hanok, a traditional Korean house.
