Points regards artistic creation as an important part of a vibrant, just, and healthy society. The international artist residency program is mainly conducted in three ways: through the exchange of international institutions, open recruitment, and invitation. It is aimed at all types of artists, and also curators, writers, musicians, scientists, researchers, and experts in other related disciplines and interdisciplinary fields. During their stays, Points will hold public outreach and education events from time to time. The project will also invite other relevant researchers to get involved to generate dialogue with a wide range of perspectives.

In 2019, Points had established close ties and cooperative relationships with V2_Lab for Unstable Media, Australia's Asialink, Russia's Zarya Contemporary Art Center, Japan's S-AIR arts organization, Thailand's Subhashok the Arts Centre, the Taipei International Art Village, and the Swiss Culture Foundation's Shanghai office. In the future, Points will connect with more international institutions and build a close-knit communication network on a global scale.

Points International Residency is open for artists and curators from different disciplines, with locality and community in mind. For the artist-in-residency, the focus is on time-based media works, like performance art, video art and installations, as well as research involve with public engagement. For the visiting artists, Points usually arrange two trips, one is arranged to local artists’ studios, the other is arranged to important museums and galleries in the Shanghai City. Besides, international professionals are occasionally invited to talk with the residents giving lectures or exchanging ideas about their research and creation.

PCCA attempts to provide international artists with Chinese cultural experience under both historical and contemporary atmosphere. Through knowledge sharing, creative research and production to fulfil the international art exchange. Through arranging public events, PCCA also tries to provide network for residents and revive local contemporary art scene.

In 2022, the Points International Artist Residency Programme (under the Troy House Arts Foundation) will expand and officially launch a new artist residency in both Wales and London, UK. The new residency space in Wales is due to open in 2022 and is located on the grounds of a seventeenth-century Troy House estate in Monmouthshire. The extensive riverside land will be preserved and transformed to provide exhibition space, artist studios/homes and a Troy House Art research centre. Their mission is to create a unique ecological environment that encourages diverse, multidisciplinary and experimental contemporary art-making as well as to support artists from around the world to develop their work and research at this location.

Points International Artist Residency will invite Ukrainian artist for 1-3 months residency. The residency will help the artist to develop professionally and build networks as well as provide a supportive environment for research and production. During the residency, Poins will organise regular visits and networking events with art world professionals, inviting audiences to discover and access the artists' studios to foster a greater public engagement as well. The artist-in-residence will have the opportunity to showcase their work at the Foundation's London space. Deadline 30 September 2022.
