Three residency programs at MeetFactory in Prague
MeetFactory is a non-profit international center for contemporary art founded in 2001 by the artist David Černý. Its mission to foster a dialogue between individual genres and make the current happenings on the art scene accessible to the widest public; to support original projects in the fields of visual arts, theater and music as well as interdisciplinary and experimental platforms; to create a space where art is alive and artists are present, enhancing a direct exchange between international artists and the visitors, as well as between different fields and generations.
MeetFactory offers an international Artists-in-Residence program established in 2007 and it is the largest studio program in Central Europe. MeetFactory facilitates ten studios, which annually host over thirty visual artists, curators, musicians, theater directors, and writers. They foster the involvement of artists in residence not only within the programming of MeetFactory (Open Studios, Public House, Museum Night, etc.) and its three exhibition spaces (exhibitions, performances, guided tours), but also in the context of the Czech and Central European art scenes.
The MeetFactory AiR Program launches several open calls throughout the year, for both international and Czech contemporary artists and curators, mainly in the field of visual arts. Currently they have three open calls for 2022:
- Food Studio – looking for projects where food grows to become another medium of contemporary art.
- Sustainable Studio Practice – a safe space where you can develop a project focusing on the topic of sustainability within your artistic practice. This residency is intended for artists living within a radius of 1000km from Prague.
- Performance Studio – for artists active in the field of performance, with a special focus on interdisciplinary projects connecting performance and visual arts and theory.
All three programmes offer accommodation in a shared apartment, studio space, a fee of 700 EUR per month, and a production budget of 200 EUR. The Sustainable Studio Practice residency also offers travel reimbursement of up to 200 EUR (only for land transportation – no air travel).
Various residency dates are available in 2022. Check each programme on their website for details. Deadline for all the programs are on 15 August 2021.
