March 9-11 AiR ARRAY Madrid

DutchCulture|TransArtists is invited by Art Motile to participate at AIR ARRAY: a meeting of AIR Programs and mobility workshops for artists in Madrid. Art Motile and Matadero Madrid present this three day event focused on two main activities: a two-day meeting for AiR programs and a half day mobility workshop for artists at Casa de Velázquez - Académie de France à Madrid. Dec 2 Workshop REFRAMING

One of the followups of the symposium TOPGEMAAKT on Oct 2-3, was the workshop REFRAMING for technical workspaces by Dick Rijken director of Steim in Amsterdam. This workshop aimed to sharpen thoughts about position, function and meaning of technical workspaces in any kind of discipline. Participants were Dick Rijken (Steim), Lex van Lith (Beeldenstorm), Kristien van den Oever (AGA), Diana Krabbendam (The Beach), Durk Valkema (Vrij Glas), Dagobert Bergmans en Maud Aarts (Buitenwerkplaats), (Stichting Grafische Werkplaats). This workshop is organized in context of the network of technical workspaces in the Netherlands, and is co-organized and supported by AiR Platform NL.


Nov 12-13 AiR Platform NL in Sweden

TransArtists / AiR Platform NL visited Gothenborg and Stockholm on November 12- 13th to meet with AiR organizations from all over Sweden to speak about the practicalities of AiR programs and how to develop a network for AiR. Since two years, many new AiR programs came up in Sweden and even more are in development. Therefore the Swedish Arts Grants Committee invited DutchCulture|TransArtists for a program of lectures and discussions, at Roda Sten Konsthalll in Gothenorg and at Iaspis in Stockholm. Maria Tuerlings (TransArtists) and Ann Larsson (director of the Swedisch Grant Committee) also spoke about the European Commission’s cooperation on residency issues which has resulted in the “OMC Policy Handbook on Residences" which will be available online from February 2015.


Sept 18 - 19 AiR symposium Ruhr area, Germany

After the symposium AiR Treffen 2010 in Dortmund and Essen, DutchCulture | TransArtists was again invited by co-organizers Künstlerhaus Dortmund and Kunsthaus Essen and by Kunstverein Bochum, to work together on a follow-up symposium in Dortmund on 18th and 19th of September. The Kunstvereine in the Ruhr area are mapping out ideas and strategies for collaboration and artist-in-residence concepts and reaching out to the international AiR field. Furthermore, the symposium focussed on the development of a collaborative residency network in this region.

Oct 2-3-4 Symposium TOPGEMAAKT

Since 2012 AiR Platform NL is involved in the developement of a network and platform for and about technical workspaces for arts and design in the Netherlands and Flanders. We celebrate the launch of the platform with a symposium with Best - Practice presentations, working groups and workshops about the new position of technical workspaces in the arts - and culural field at the Textile Museum in Tilburg. Bamboo Curtain Studio guest in Amsterdam

For the months of May - June - July Catherin Lee, assistant director at Bamboo Curtain Studio in Taiwan, was guest at DutchCulture|TransArtists office to investigate the set up of the network between AiR programs in the Netherlands, in relation to the AiR field in Taiwan. She combined her research with visits to AiR programs in the Netherlands, in Berlin, Londen and Paris. AiR Platform NL will continue the collaboration in support of the developement of a network for AiR programs in Taiwan.


Supporting AiR field in Morocco

Together with Moroccan AiR organizers and the Marrakech Bienale team, AiR Platform NL iniated and directed a round table with the Moroccan AiR field during the Marrakech Biennale in March 2014. AiR Platform NL supports the take off of this network. Read more here >


Mondriaan Fonds offers AiR opportunities for artists based in the Netherlands
