Susana Pilar Delahante Matienzo MAP Project
The Project for MAP Residency Program in Enschede consists on creates a false minefield using sensors of movements, a computer and projections of holographic images took them based on real explosions.
The work runs related to the participation of the public. I consider very interesting and constructive when the work became part of the personal experiences and when the people are able to finish or transform the Proposal. I do not find interesting to show them a fixed proposal but on the contrary a work where they can experiment internally, become part of it and understand its nature from inside.
The public will be ask to walk through the minefield camp and experiment individually how they could react in such kind of situation measuring their own steps. In this way, the public has chance of face a simulated situation, which acts as antibodies formula. Every time that someone steps on false, a sensor will be activated and a virtual explosion will happen in the area he/she stepped.
The project is also a kind of social training based on military tactics as well as, conceptually speaking and from my view, a symbolic structure of the non-protection feeling, the risk and been in unknown situations.
Susana Pilar Delahante Matienzo
While in residence at ArtEZ, Susana Pilar Delahante Matienzo produced the work Paranoia. Thanks to motion sensors, this installation shows live an image of the people stopping before the screen and aims at them with a gun sight wherever they go. Paranoia was presented in the Habana Biennale 11th edition (May-June 2012), which dealt with the topic of "Artistic Practices and Social Imaginaries".
