Summer residency 2023 at Rib in Rotterdam
Call for Rotterdam based artists
For the past five years, Rib art space in Rotterdam, has been running a residency program dedicating its summer slot in July and August to an Open Call for exhibition proposals and activities by young artists, mainly from Rotterdam. The residency consists of a production period followed by an exhibition or a public program. During the residency, the selected artists will become the new host, run the space and determine its new opening hours.
We invite a resident to elaborate on an artwork, the premise of the exhibition cycle, or to engage in a dialogue with existing works or texts.

Picture: the 2020 summer lab titled "Garage School of Fermentation" by artist collective Laagencia, which critically explored the biopolitical dimension of food, particularly fermentation processes, localised within the geo-scape of Rotterdam as a post-modern promise of gentrification. Much like a recipe, Rotterdam also has its own prescription for movement: gentrification and it’s subsequent precarity.
