Open calls in Salzburg for subnetAIR and MediaART Residency + Grant

Two interconnected residency calls within subnetAIR are open for application.

subnetAIR

With its AiR program, subnet offers to local and international media artists a platform for their work. This way, subnet supports creative people throughout the development of a project, from its conceptual stage to dissemination and presentation. Space and the needed infrastructure are made available to the resident.

Since 2013, subnetAIR is committed to the intersection between technology and arts. Its goal is to support the arts as technical field of innovation and to invite artists who understand electronics as material. The residency program aims at connecting artistic researchers in a sustainable way, and at making the energies of such a network accessible to the wider public.

Since 2016, subnetAIR takes place in cooperation with the Center for Human-Computer Interaction of the University of Salzburg. The HCI offers artists a vibrant environment filled with technology enthusiasts, critical thinkers, exotic man-machine interfaces and lots of equipment and space to work with.

subnetAIR CALL_2022
subnetAiR 2022 is organized in collaboration with the Center for Human-Computer Interaction at Salzburg. The duration of the residency is 6 weeks between February – July and September – November.

The program actively promotes artists and gives them publicity. subnetAIR counteracts the bottleneck in production and presentation rooms and, with the provision of infrastructure and know-how in our field of activity, reduces barriers in favor of realizing project ideas.

subnet provides artists, the work budget (€ 1,000), the working space and the know-how for projects in the field of media art – with a focus on physical computing, hardware hacking and tinkering.

The deadline for application is 30 October 2021 and the details can be found both in German and English here.

subnet MediaART: Project development grant for artists from the field of media art and experimental media. The Artist-in-Residence Program of Salzburg awards in cooperation with subnet – Salzburg platform for media art and experimental technologies a one-month project development grant.

The deadline for application is 31 October 2021 and the details can be found here.

The application shouldn’t be longer than three pages and consist of concept, curriculum vitae, references and preferred and possible timeframes.
