Cécile Wesolowski's Art Journals
Cécile Wesolowski works mainly with video and digital art. Her favourite topics are mass media, pop culture, stage setting, filmed performance and forms of documentation.
Here you can read her personal notes on her residency at AreHolland:
I'm in residence here at the B93 since two months. This residency is part of the Pépinières Program. The first part of this residence qualifies as a period of experiment and researches. Experiment because this was my first attempt to draw, also testing a new way of working the video. I?ve researched the character of Camille played by Brigitte Bardot in the film Le mépris (the Contempt) by Jean-Luc Godard and André Bazin's quotation at the beginning of the film "The cinema, substitutes for our gaze a world more in harmony with our desires."
In February I work with a new video project, it comes from the drawings "American houses". I cut and I edit again some various American series to make a new story, a personal story based on self-fiction. I added my image in the series and I have redefined the composition of the image of the original series.
In April I had a show with Jovanna Tosello, the guest artist who invited by the B93, the art building where I live and have my atelier.
