Vyksa Art Residence
The Vyksa Artist-in-Residence program was established in 2017 by the OMK-Uchastie Foundation. It is a year-round platform for art professionals that provides residents with an opportunity to execute projects and conduct research in the Russian town of Vyksa.
The art residency is one of the few public venues in Vyksa that brings the art professional and the local community together under one roof. The art residency makes a significant contribution to the town's development by ensuring the dynamics and diversity of Vyksa's cultural landscape, helping to forge new connections between artists and urban communities.
Introduction of the resident artists to the local community is among the residency's main objectives as it is one the few platforms in Vyksa that holds cultural events, instrumental to forging new connections and integrating locals into the international cultural process.
The next step of the program is conducting a workshop or a lecture on any subject of choice. It is crucial to foster a dialogue that would engage the community in the creative process. It is desired to have the Vyksa community to get the ins and outs of the artist's work and, when possible, participate in putting together a new project.
At the end of the stay Vyksa AiR residents should sum up the results of their research and work for the final exhibition (or any other form of presentation). Artists are encouraged to analyze their experience at the residency and share the outcome with the local community.
There is a workshop space (20 m2) for sharing in the building of the residence.
Vyksa Art Residence provides a separate bedroom with bathroom in a mansion, which has an equipped kitchen, living room, study and everything necessary for living and working on the project. The fenced area of the residence has a garden, ideal for picnic and outdoor activities.
