La Rectoria Contemporary Art Centre
The program is intended for professional artists working in the realms of the visual arts (painting, sculpture, print-making, photography, drawing, illustration, multiple techniques, installations), the media arts, and the arts and crafts, as well as for architecture professionals. The Centre d'Art la Rectoria actively supports the contemporary plastic arts and encourages both study and research in this field. It promotes exchanges with other art centers, but also with universities and with individual artists all over the world. The project's theme for the current open call is based on the purposes of the Art Centre: art, nature, the environment, alternative mobility and historic memory.
Workshop studios for sculpture, painting, ceramics, chalcographical engraving and serigraphy.
The house is located in Sant Pere de Vilamajor, Vallès Oriental, since its beginnings in 1987. It is a typical Catalan cottage dating from 1679 and contains:
- 3 singles bedrooms
- 3 double bedrooms
- Two shared toilets
- Kitchen with office
- Reading Room
- washing machine
- Five large workspaces with the possibility to share them
The centre provides residential facilities for the artists and fully equipped workshops for various specialities. It also has large outdoor areas that permit work in the open air, as well engaging in numerous types of installations.
Located in a small town near Barcelona (40 km), within the boundaries of the Montseny Wildlife Park and 12 km away from the Mediterranean sea. Connected by train and bus with Barcelona.
