Greatmore Studios
Greatmore Studios offers permanent, visiting, curating and mentoring residencies. Greatmore Studios brings together artists from diverse cultural and national backgrounds in a creative working environment through its residency programmes. The residencies encourage new ideas and stimulate professionalism, creativity and productivity. There are 12 studio spaces allocated for residencies. The residencies are geared towards local and international artists and curators. The mentorship residency is aimed at emerging artists. All other residencies are aimed at mid careered artists. Three times a year, Greatmore Studios offers visiting artists residencies to mid-career artists from across the globe. These 3-month residencies run from January to March, from May to July and from September to November. Greatmore also offers studio spaces for permanent resident artists. Availability, however, is rare. Please contact them for more details. Greatmore also offers mentorship and curatorial residencies from time to time.
Visiting artists are obliged to interact with the permanent residents, give a presentation of their work, participate in the outreach programme and exhibit their work at the end of their stay.
Twelve artists studios, an event space, a social courtyard space, a digital arts facility, an office, kitchen and forecourt are housed at 47 & 49 Greatmore Street, Woodstock, in Cape Town. We also have a four bedroomed house in Observatory for accommodation of out of town visitors.
Woodstock is a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. It is located between the docks of Table Bay and the lower slopes of Devil's Peak, about 1 kilometre (0.6 mi) east of the city centre of Cape Town.
