Description

DAS offers 12 Home Residencies and three International Residencies annually and the programme is in high demand with over 180 applicants per year. A residency at DAS provides the opportunity for professional and artistic development through access to facilities, technical expertise, opportunities to engage with artists-in-residence and participation in exhibitions or talks. In the past ten years DAS has hosted 30 international artists from Australia, Canada, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Spain and the USA.

Outcome

International artists are provided with an opportunity to discuss their work and resident’s talks/events are included and advertised as part of the DAS program, however there is no provision for exhibition. Artists wishing to exhibit during their stay may organise this themselves if they wish and we will assist where possible.

The residencies provide artists with 24-hour studio access, technical support, free audio/visual equipment hire and access to training.

The residency will provide participants with 24-hour access to the studios and a personal MacPro workstation programmed with relevant software. Residents also have access to a range of equipment (DSLRs, video & sound recording equipment), software (Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Creative Suite etc.), technical support and specialised training.
