
Dehua Yueji Kiln International Contemporary Ceramic Art Center
The Yueji Kiln International Contemporary Ceramic Art Center was established in early spring 2009 in order to preserve the significant heritage of the region while hosting artists from around the world to create new works, experiment, and draw inspiration from the unique ceramic history. Dehua County is renowned for its translucent white porcelain which local artists have used to create devotional figures and sculpture since the Tang Dynasty.
- The resident’s project may be documented and published on the Yueji Kiln Ceramic Art Center website.
- The artist shall give a public presentation at the center or Dehua Ceramics College.
- The Center reserves the right to select one piece that resident artists have created in residence as the contribution to their collection. The Center has exclusive and absolute ownership and legal right to dispose of this collection.
Work Studios offer facilities for working in clay including basic glazing ingredients, three wheels, one slab roller, one electric kiln, one wood-firing salt kiln, and two 33-meters-long wood kilns.
A private apartment and utilities (double bed-room and shared bathroom).
The center is located on a scenic mountainside next to the famous Yueji kiln, a traditional climbing wood-firing kiln that has been in use for over 400 years.
They recommend artists fly to Hongkong, and then transfer to Xiamen. They’ll pick you up at Xiamen International Airport. If artists fly to Shanghai, they’ll help you to book the inland flight ticket to Xiamen(XMN) or Quanzhou(JJN). They’ll pick you up at Xiamen or Quanzhou airport.
