The Chinati Foundation's Artist in Residence program
Supporting the development of artists of divers ages, backgrounds, and disciplines the Artist in Residence program provides an opportunity for less established artists to develop and exhibit their work in a contemplative, but stimulating and challenging environment.
Artists spend a great deal of there time alone. The residency offers limited social interaction. The Chinati Foundation is ideal for those artists who seek a quiet and sympathetic environment with few distractions.
Exhibitions are often held at the conclusion of the residency. These become an important part of the museum's temporary exhibition program, and provide a vital counterpoint to the permanent collection.
Surrounded by the desert landscape of Presidio County, the foundation is located in the small Texas town of Marfa, 60 miles north of the Mexican border.
