Application guidelines:

Each ensemble must submit an online application form. The accompanying work examples should be videos that include at least two pieces of contrasting style, and should be representative of the ensemble’s work within the past six months. They accept submissions via DVD or online link (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo).

References: Two references must be sent by musicians who are familiar with your work, and can assess your accomplishments and goals. You must contact your references. The references must arrive within two weeks of the receipt of your application materials. They may be mailed or emailed to:

Avaloch farm music institute provides a unique opportunity for chamber music and jazz ensembles at any stage of development, to have the time and space to work intensively on repertoire, prepare for recordings, concerts or competitions, work with composers on commissions, and forge or reconnect to a group musical identity. Avaloch farm music institute offers free living and studio accommodations as well as all meals as part of the residency. Musicians who need additional funding for travel should apply to other sources for this support.

Studio Information

The studios are spacious and include a sitting area as well as ample rehearsal space. Three of the studios have pianos, and there is a fourth piano in the common room which serves as a social space as well as an informal concert venue. There are also five individual practice rooms in the basement of the residence building, and bedrooms are sound-proofed for practice use as well.

Accommodation Information

Avaloch Farm provides private bedrooms for 21 residents with the option for couples to share rooms. The bedrooms are charming and sufficiently sound-proofed to make them suitable for private practice. The living areas are set up in two person suites with bathroom facilities within each suite.


Avaloch Farm is located in Boscawen, NH, a small agricultural community. The campus is surrounded by acres of woods, cornfields, apple orchards and there is a lake for swimming and boating
