Description

Supporting artists since 1972, Acme is a charity based in London which provides affordable studios, work/live space, and a programme of artist support. Acme is the single largest provider of affordable artist studios in England, and this year it will support over 800 individual artists across 16 buildings in Greater London. Aiming to intervene at pivotal moments in artists’
careers, Acme’s programme of artist support is designed to have a transformational impact. Working with a range of international and UK-based partners and donors, the programme supports professional development for artists at all stages of their careers through residencies, awards, bursaries, mentoring and exhibition opportunities. Over 700 artists have benefited from the programme since its foundation in 1987.

Acme’s Associate Artist Residency provides opportunities for artists, writers, musicians and curators to develop their practice, expand their community, and explore new knowledge in London.
Acme invites applications to participate in a bespoke residency for three months within a supportive and diverse environment. Situated at the Acme Fire Station, successful applicants will work alongside Acme’s landmark five-year Fire Station Residency for UK artists and a changing cohort of residents from their international partnerships.

The residency offers secure work/live studio accommodation alongside professional development opportunities, through introductions to like-minded practicing artists, writers and thinkers that can stimulate their ideas and connect them to London’s creative and cultural community. Residents are provided with a tailored schedule of events with invitations to private views, talks, screenings, and exhibitions. As part of Acme’s programme, they also create tours introducing residents to local artist-run projects, public institutions and private galleries.
