Abbaye de Fontevraud
The Abbey of Fontevraud is considered as the largest monastic city in Europe and one of the most important sites of the Val de Loire region, registered UNESCO world heritage.
The Abbey is a “Cultural Meeting Center” and has specific residency programmes for animation, music and monumental work in situ. Read more about the programs here.
Every year, the Abbey welcomes artists in residency, eg. animated film directors who wish to work on writing productions (scenarios, graphic or musical researches, story-boards) on a personal, feature or short length project.
The Abbey of Fontevraud proposes creation residencies to animated films authors. These writing residencies are financed by the Odyssée program for international residents in the Cultural Meeting Centers and by the Cultural Affairs Direction of Pays de la Loire region (Ministry of Culture) for the French residents. Read more about the program here.
Boasting remarkable acoustics, Fontevraud is a highly sought-after venue among musicians and singers, especially for traditional music. They come to the Abbey to record, prepare concerts, rehearse, and take courses and workshops.
These residencies are also an opportunity to meet students from local and regional music schools, and to hear concerts of new pieces played for the very first time.
The Ackerman Fontevraud residency for contemporary art offers material support to artists to create a monumental work in situ.
Provided at the Abbey.
