Week 4-5: The countryside

Week 4-5: The countryside

Last week it was "parents day" in Korea. All boys and girls pick up the flower baskets in the streets to surprise their parents. A week before that it was "children's day", a very important national holiday. Generally people enjoy only around 12 free days a year, so the national holidays are a welcome treat.

I spent that weekend as part of the MT (Membership Training) with the other artists of Ssamzie Space at the island of Ganghwado, about 2 hours drive from Seoul. MT trips are rather common here. You spent a weekend to get to know each other better, over some grilling, games and drinks of course. After two days of small trips and fresh air and wide empty beautiful landscapes I traveled to Jeonju, a small city 3,5 hours South from Seoul. I joined some friends to see the Jeonju international film festival.

At one of the pictures you see a small fragment of the table that was filled with 60 dishes, a traditional meal and specialty of Jeonju. It was a relieve to get out of Seoul for a bit and to experience life at a different and smaller scale. And besides all that I'm working at the studio, researching, working and meeting people, artists, designers. Friendly networks are taking form.
