Maison des auteurs, Angoulême, France

Maison des auteurs, Angoulême, France

La maison des auteurs opened its doors in July 2002 in order to provide positive support to comics authors and animators working in Angoulême or who wish to spend time here as creators in residence.

In order to support image creators and promote exchanges, la maison des auteurs provides ideal working conditions to French and foreign authors whose project in residence has been accepted by a committee of professional graphic authors and scenarists. For the support provided by la Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image, it will be asked to each resident a contribution of 150 € per year.

During his residence or at the end, the author may have to make a public presentation of the project for which he received the support of La Maison des auteurs of la Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image. The content and the format will be arrested before and in consultation with the Director of La Maison des auteurs.

Provided by La Maison des auteurs:

  • each author has an individual or collective studio.
  • apartments, individual (studio or T2) or collective (T3, for two residents), can be put at the disposal of the residents, under certain conditions for a period between two months and up to a year. In this case, expenses of water, gas and electricity are due by the resident unless otherwise stated. Pets are not accepted in the studio nor in the apartment.
  • Access to facilities, equipments and a technical and documentary resource center for a period of between two months and up to two years.

With a view to providing further financial support, the National Book Center (Centre national du livre) may give grants to accepted residents (freelance designers and scriptwriters). To apply for this grant, you must have work already published in French (for further information get in touch with us at the maison des auteurs before applying).
