Call for artists from, or working in North Africa or the Middle East

Kibrit is a program for research and production around contemporary artistic and curatorial practices engaged into the reactivation of heritage and collective memory.

Kibrit artist-in-residence program is run by LE 18, derb el ferrane (Marrakech) and Ramallah Municipality - بلدية رام الله (Ramallah). The residency program offers the opportunity to artists, curators or cultural researchers coming from, or working in North Africa and the Middle East to spend one month in either Marrakech or Ramallah, researching or producing artworks linked to cultural heritage and collective memory in the two cities.

Kibrit aims to develop collaborative and interregional research and cartographies by initiating artistic interventions, residencies, conferences and exhibitions aiming at reactivating concepts of heritage and collective memory (architecture, radio and sound archives, cinema, photography). Kibrit is initiated and curated by a network of independent art spaces and initiatives.

Current members:

KIBRIT is affiliated with NACMM platform for cultural mobility in North Africa and the Middle East, and is supported by SouthMed CV, a program developed by Interarts, BAC Art Center, Gudran for Art and Development, Khayal Arts & Education, National Center for Culture and Arts and the German Commission for UNESCO. The program is co-funded by the European Union in the context of the program Med Culture.
