The residency is offered for a nominal fee for the studio and accommodation. An artist can apply individually, through an NGO & organisation or embassy. Travel, art material, food, insurance and visa costs are not covered by the residency.

The selection of artists is done by a jury comprising international arts experts. Selection is done on merit and artistic excellence. Artists from all stages of their career are considered equally.

WAA Residency invites applications from recent art school graduates for a one-month sponsored studio residency in May 2015. WAA sponsors the residency by offering one-month of studio costs.

What About Art? (WAA) is an important arts hub in the contemporary art scene in India. What About Art international artists' residency aims to facilitate arts practice for artists and curators, provide a platform and opportunity to network with the arts community in Mumbai and engage in dialogues on visual arts practices. WAA collaborates with a number of art residencies in India to help the artists engage with a wider network.
WAA believes that space and a stimulating atmosphere are the most important aspects of arts practice and ensure these through the residency. Artists are often unable to work in cities due to high living costs. This residency is an opportunity for artists to work in the dynamic and emerging art scene in Mumbai.
What About Art? offers four studios and accommodation to professional artists and curators working with the medium of video, installation, painting, sound, performance, sculpture and research.

The residency is situated in the heart of Mumbai in Bandra, a vibrant neighbourhood, not far from the art district where galleries, museums and art spaces are located.
