Founded by theater director Elli Papakonstantinou in 2011, the Vyrsodepseio is a vibrant creative cell full of open and hidden possibilities, a grass root project that drastically helps the growth of innovative, hybrid art.
Vyrsodepseio is an experiment on how to produce art in “difficult times”, an evolving project of synergies and co-operations. While planning a rich weekly program, it is also a virtual platform of networking between artists and activists, international organizations and individual artists. Artists in Athens are eager to connect with the international art scene, and Vyrsodepseio takes the time to introduce them and get them acquainted with artists and locations that might be of particular interest to them and their work.
Vyrsodepseio focuses on International Networking and promotes exchange between Greek and international organisations. They collaborate in building an international infrastructure for artist exchange with organisations like TEH (Transeurope Halles) International Network, IETM (International Network for Contemporar y Performing Arts), Panta Theater Caens, the French Institute, Maison Antoine Vitez (France), Arab Platform for exchange, and the initiative AthenSYN.
Through the seminars, educational programs and residencies of artist with participants from all Europe, Vyrsodepseio is fully engaged in the intercultural dialogue through art.
Since its creation, the Vyrsodepseio has received artists in residencies, workshops, master-classes, seminars and educational programs between its walls in order to participate to the ongoing education of artists and cultural actors throughout Greece, Europe and Euro-Mediterranean area.
Doc(K) is an artist residency focusing on the idea of using documentation as an art form. The residency is addressed to artists from all art forms, fne art, theatre, music, dance, graphic or media. Doc(k) will introduce participating artists to the Athenian art scene and at the same time we will create together the metadata of their projects.
The selected artists will have the chance to live and work in Athens and to participate in weekly activities such as talks, meetings with curators, exhibition tours and workshops.
The support, networks and creative environment provide an opportunity for artists to interact, learn, research and experiment with new works, materials, and concepts.
The team of Doc(k) documents the process and the final work of the participants and explores the idea of documentation as a new way of relating with the final work. Doc(k) will conclude and reach to a point of discussion in 2017 where the show “Doc(k)umenting” will take place, including all the participant artists from the residency.
Participants are also encouraged to propose talks and workshops, and to experience the Athenian art scene. Doc(K) International Art Residency Program encourages professional development, artistic exchange and international contacts.

The largest tannery in the Balkans in the 19th century was claimed as a preserved building from the Ministry of Culture. Elli Papakonstantinou and her ODC Ensemble transformed it into a multi-stage, versatile space for contemporary performing arts in the post-industrial undeveloped area of Votanikos.
