The International Kuenstlerhaus Villa Concordia aims to promote and pursue the arts and to encourage the cultural relations between Bayern and the other States. By inviting artists from other European countries, Bayern aims to promote the European Thought. Through a public program, the International Kuenstlerhause aims to contribute to the culteral live of the city of Bamberg and the Region.

Providing apartments and financial support the bursaries give the artists the opportunity to live in Bamberg and to work on projects of their choice without any other commitments. Bursars may choose to present the resulting projects to the general public in exhibitions or at other events. Bursars are selected by the board of trustees of the Künstlerhaus. Application by individuals is not possible.

The bursaries are intended to provide already established artists, rather than young artistic talent, with the time and surroundings to conceive, execute or complete projects of their choice.

The Künstlerhaus arranges exhibitions, readings and performances of the bursars’ work – if they can be organised and are financially feasible. The artists are given the opportunity to introduce themselves and their works in lectures or presentations.
